Using the ‘Concrete -Pictorial- Abstract’ approach to help teach fractions with understanding and application

Join us and come away with how to:

  • Begin by exploring the many ways we use fractions in our everyday lives so they are seen as useful
  • Use the highly effective ‘Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract’ approaches including the ‘bar model’ and Cuisenaire rods to teach problem solving and calculating involving fractions
  • Connect fractions to multiplication, division and measures
  • Plan using Karen’s innovative tools: the ‘Maths Sandwich’ and  ‘Medium-Term Planning Map’ to create true ‘Mastery’ in fractions
