Improving Teaching of Multiplication and Division at Levels 2 and 3

A key aspect of the effective teaching of multiplication and division is to understand how children actually develop their conceptual understanding of these operations. When misconceptions and fundamental errors exist at these early stages of maths learning, children often go on to encounter huge difficulties in learning mathematics in later years. This course will address both essential teacher subject knowledge and offer supportive guidance on how to teach these essential concepts effectively in ways that both engage children and stimulate their mathematical thinking. (This course is designed to be hands-on, fun and totally non-threatening and is particularly well suited to teachers and TAs who want to build their confidence in maths).

Maths Outside! for Early Years

12th March 2012, Albrighton Hall Hotel, Shrewsbury 1:30-4:30 pm

The outdoor environment is a natural extension of the Early Years classroom and a wonderful place to learn and apply mathematical understanding. This course will build upon the excellent theories and practices described in the recent EYFS PSRN documents. Activities and approaches will be both shared and developed during the session to provide an excellent starting point for further development back in school. This venue has been chosen particularly due to its beautiful outdoor environment

Improving Mental Maths in Key Stage 1

Being able to calculate mentally using efficient and reliable methods is an essential foundation in mathematics. As children move through school an increasing number of ‘gaps’ in numerical understanding are too often revealed preventing them from making expected progress. This course will offer hands- on, practical advice and strategies to support practitioners in providing appropriate and effective approaches to raise standards in mental maths throughout Key Stage 1.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Please call us immediately on 07800 711 340 or email info@karenwildingeducation.co.uk if you wish to cancel a booking. Karen Wilding Education terms and conditions regarding cancellation of a booking are as follows:

In the event of a delegate cancelling the following is payable:

Notice Given:

• 28+ days - No cost
• 7 - 27 days - 50% fee
• Less than 7 days - Full fee

Karen Wilding Education aims to offer a quality service and will make every effort to ensure the venue is suitable and of a high standard.

Karen Wilding Education accepts no liability for loss or subsequent loss as a result of cancelled events. Any paid places will be refunded in full but no other costs will be refunded. In the event of a cancellation being made by you due to an OFSTED Inspection taking place on the day of the course, Karen Wilding Education may waive the course fee on production of evidence of the date of the OFSTED Inspection (non-refundable expenses incurred by Karen wilding Education will still be charged to reflect the day rate fixed by venue etc.)
